Humble Beginnings

Tuesday 8th of March 1983 was an ordinary day for most streets in the East End of London, but for one particular street it was the beginning of a curry revolution. It was the day the residents of Cambridge Heath Road were introduced to authentic Indian & Bangladeshi food provided by the Al-Amin Restaurant. People came and enjoyed great food with fantastic service.

Established Reputation

Many sceptics walked through the door not knowing what to expect but all of them left wanting the recipes and complimented the atmosphere. More than thirty years on, the same recipes still exist, the service is still complimented as ever, the atmosphere remains fantastic and most importantly Al-Amin Restaurant continues to provide the residents of Cambridge Heath Road and with authentic curry from the East.

The growing popularity of Al-Amin restaurant cannot be defined in one sentence. Several contributing factors have made this one of the oldest most successful restaurants in the area. One dedicated owner since opening day has allowed for consistency and authenticity to grow. He masterminded the original recipes and to this day, his menu continues to expand. ‘Variety’ is the dish of the day, with the menu covering a range of dishes for every taste bud. Some like their curry dishes mild, some like it sweet, some like it saucy whilst others like it spicy. Al-Amin restaurant caters for every taste!

The location is fantastic. If you are based anywhere in London, you too can enjoy the experience of dining at this fine establishment. It’s a five minute walk from Bethnal Green tube station, Broadway Market and London Fields. Boxing fans, you should be aware, it is less than 5 minutes walk from York Hall and just as close for all you flower lovers who know Colombia Road Market. Theatre lovers will know Hackney Empire which is located very close to the restaurant. If those hot spots aren’t enough, the Al-Amin is situated 1 mile away from Brick Lane and Liverpool Street. Not to mention, we are located a minute walk from Vyner Street, where “First Thursday” takes place.
